Gasser Naturstein offers a vast selection of natural stone washbasins made from hard stones such as basalt, granite, porphyry, tonalite, or gneiss. These hard stones are characterized by high density and excellent resistance to moisture. While every natural stone washbasin is a unique piece due to its natural formation, halving the material creates a mirrored pair of basins; this allows them to be placed side-by-side while appearing virtually identical.
For us, the optimal surface finish—both in terms of look and feel—is polished; this gives the stone a brilliant sheen and ensures that water drains effectively from the natural stone sink without pooling. Another finish available for our sinks is the "leather" look (brushed/satin finish), which offers a somewhat more rustic aesthetic.
The first key point is that you are working with a material that is moisture-resistant and non-porous. Softer stones, such as marble, require a special impregnating treatment.
For gentle weekly cleaning, we recommend using a pH-neutral soap. Use microfiber cloths or soft sponges to clean the sink, as abrasive cleaning tools like steel wool can damage the surface. To remove limescale deposits, we recommend using descalers specifically formulated for natural stone.
The deep-penetrating impregnation should be reapplied approximately every two years, or whenever water no longer beads up on the stone surface but instead soaks in after a short time.
To treat oil or grease stains, use an oil or grease-removing paste that draws the grease out of the material.
Our washbasins come pre-drilled with a standard 1¼-inch drain opening and can be installed directly by your bathroom specialist or plumber.
